Studio Urbo
Zetland Terrace
The Zetland Terrace Renovation by Studio Urbo involved transforming an original Victorian Terrace house in the heritage conservation area of Zetland. The young professional couple who owned the house wanted to address several issues, including lack of light penetration, poor ventilation, and no connection to the backyard. Studio Urbo’s design solution included combining the original kitchen and living area, extending the ground floor to the side boundary, relocating the laundry, and creating a new timber deck connecting to the south-facing courtyard. They also added a strip of glass roof and skylight above the existing floor to flood the space with natural light. The front room was opened with bi-fold doors to let in the north sun, resulting in a comfortable, light-filled home that seamlessly connected indoors and outdoors.
